Center of Advanced Technology: Preliminary Remarkable Achievements of International Cooperation Project HAPIE

(Missing)

Recently, the Center of Advanced Technology (ATC) has been assigned to perform an international project called HAPIE (Enhancement of High-Quality Human Resources and Employability for Vietnam in the Design and Development of High-Value Added Products, Innovation Entrepreneurship) sponsored by the British Council.

HAPIE has attracted many researchers from prestigious universities such as Sai Gon Hi-Tech Park, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, HCMC University of Technology and Education, International University of Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi University of Technology, Hanoi National University, Water Resources University, Le Quy Don Technical University (LQDTU), AIE Company, 3T Robotics Company, KT Biotech Company and Fablab Can Tho. It has also drawn attention of some universities of UK.
HAPIE is divided into 3 mini projects, of which LQDTU undertakes two projects namely “Application of rapid prototyping technology into supporting computation of medical surgeries” and “Application of reverse engineering technique for design arm and hand prosthetics for a disabled.” ATC headed by Assoc. Prof. Tran Duc Tang has been designated as the main team of LQD TU to implement the projects. After one year of implementation, in June 2017, the research products of the two projects have been applied in Vietnam. These products are highly appreciated by the British Council.

The product of rapid prototyping technology has been applied at 108 Military Central Hospital to help the doctors to accurately calculate surgical operation plans, reduce surgery time and stress for the doctors, and reduce pain of patients.
The prosthetic arm and hand have two parts: the upper arm section and the functional kits assembled by a mechanical coupling interface. This product has been tested on patients and received positive reviews for its reliability and usability.

International project HAPIE provided a good opportunity for ATC researchers to improve their skills in project management and implementation. The success of this project will be a prerequisite for the development of further international cooperation projects
